Why do they always compare Iraq and Vietnam wars like they would be similar?
The starting strenght of the Iraq army was some 300,000 soldiers. In about seven years they have managed to kill merely 4705 Coalition soldiers. Notice that Iraq has an estimated population of 31 million humans.
American combat troops were in Vietnam about 10 years. (1965-1975) The US lost 58,159 soldiers and About 5000* helicopters and 3600* aircrafts. (* According to the book: Anti-aircraft in the cold war. Notice that this includes all losses like planes given to south-vietnamese army. Practically the amount of planes and choppers that were shipped to Vietnam and never came back.)
The Vietnam war has lots of good examples about how to fight an superior enemy. The Iraq war has lots of bad examples about how to fight an superior enemy.
And just for the record. I don't support the war in Iraq. I merely consider the Iraq resistance as pathetic.
As mistaken as the war in Iraq is, your glee at American suffering is disgusting. Soldiers don't make policy, they are men and women serving their country and they deserve respect jus as they deserve for the war to end. How about a comic on Iraqi resistance killing gays, honor killing of disrespectful women, ethnic cleansing. That Bush is wrong does not make the American soldier a villian and yes I know war crimes have happened. You are cliche of the leftist that hates his country and perfect punching bag for the right. Please move to Iran and try to be a dissident there. Better yet stay here and volunteer in a VA hospital and see that our troops are victims too.
